Women and Youth Policy Advocacy Workshop conclude in Jonglei State

We concluded the 2-day policy advocacy workshop yesterday, focusing on women and youth empowerment legislations and policies in Jonglei State with support from NPA South Sudan.
Participants drawn from Women and Youth groups representing the nine counties of Jonglei State in Bor town, Civil Society, UN and Rights agencies including the Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare and graced by the Minister of Parliamentary and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Nyalele John Chuol.
The forum:
✔ called on the State Government to reopen the state legislative assembly
✔ called on the National Legislative Assembly to expedite enactment of the Women Enterprise Development Fund, Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Youth and Sport Bill, and Family Bill
✔ the workshop appealed for a 20% Youth quota representation in the decision-making spheres in Jonglei State
✔ the workshop appealed to the Government of Jonglei State to reduce taxes and protect local small and medium scale enterprises from unhealthy competition
✔ the workshop also called for the creation of employment opportunities including vocational training and recreational facilities and activities
✔ called for resettlement of Bor Internally Displaced persons, and
✔ appealed to the Government to mitigate corruption and maximize service delivery.
