Public discourse on peace, security and youth inclusion in constitution-making and decision-making processes

INTREPID South Sudan (ISS) conducted a public discourse on peace, security, and youth inclusion in constitution-making and decision-making processes on October 14th and concluded this afternoon, the 15th, in Bor town, Jonglei State. With support from the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), this advocacy intervention brought together over 30 participants drawn from Youths and women groups from the nine states of the state, including civil society actors, Bor Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and the Director General of the Ministry of Peacebuilding. The discourse was graced by the Human Rights Advisor to the Governor of Jonglei State, Hon. Simon Manyok Deng and the Chairperson of Jonglei State High Electoral Commission, Hon. Tuor Majok Gueech.
The discourse resulted in the formation of the "Election and Constitution-making Forum." this forum will compose of youths, women, PWDs, state coordinators, and director generals of the line ministries, among other state and non-state actors including UN Agencies, INGOs and CSOs. It will be launched in November and will sit every month under the secretariat and coordination of ISS and the Peacebuilding Ministry and Chaired by the Chairperson of State High Electoral Commission.
The purpose of the forum is to carry out civic education, civic engagement and consolidate the contribution of young people in the ongoing constitution-making process and subsequent elections.
